|            | News - Well, spring is here, easter is approaching but more importantly, that means..................THE MASTERS! | In this issue:
|
| Maybe it's Augusta, maybe it's the fact that no Aussie has ever worn the Green Jacket (we even had to start our own Masters tournament - with a Gold Jacket), maybe it's just the 1st major of the year. For whatever reason, The Masters has always been my favourite tournament. As a matter of family tradition, The Masters and the FA Cup Final were always the only 2 events big enough to drag me out of bed in the small hours, just to watch TV! Remember, I grew up on the other side of the world. | ![]() |

| I fancy the chances of Trevor Immelman this year. I think he's coming into some nice form and he hits the ball far enough to compete at Augusta National, which is now a monster of a course. Just for the record, I'm very rarely right when it comes to tips, mainly because I never pick the Tiger, who obviously, is the man to beat. | ![]() |

| Coaching - Thank you to all the members who took up my offer of the introductory 'Free Lesson Offer'. Despite the wet weather, many members made the effort to come and see me and even put into practice, the odd helpful hint. I'm pleased to report that the ladies section in particular, have taken advantage of my services, with many continuing their tuition with further lessons. As the sun continues to emerge, the range has become increasingly busy, keeping Danny on his toes, retrieving what's left of the range balls. As you can imagine, many balls sank into the range during the winter but hopefully, our stock is to be replenished shortly. | ||
| Ladies Open Day - With regard to the ladies section, Lingfield Park Golf Club will be conducting a 'Ladies Open Day', scheduled for Saturday, 5th May 2007. I will be taking a very active part on the day, providing free coaching, being on hand to answer any queries and running some group coaching clinics. All ladies are welcome, from beginners to experienced players, so come along, bring a friend and have a laugh. See you there. | ![]() |

| Juniors - As some of you would have read in the 'Lingfield County Border News', I have been very active involving local schools, running introductory golf sessions for young beginners. As a result Lingfield Notre Dame School has signed up for next term, bringing students to the club each week on Mondays and Wednesdays, during school hours. Boys and girls will be embarking on a structured 6 week course, designed to provide a good balance between swing fundamentals, short game and etiquette but above all, enjoying their 1st experiences of golf. | ![]() |

Coaching - This Easter, Glen Haynes Golf is conducting a number of coaching camps for juniors.

| The Tour - The Sunningdale Foursomes was a unique experience for me. Entries were open to any combination of pairing of Professionals, Amateurs, Men & Ladies. I entered with Scottish Pro, Alasdair Hay, formerly of the Canadian Tour. Not many gave us a chance in our 1st match against 2 lady pros and although they play from the white tees with us, we had to give them 6 shots. However, we triumphed 3&2 in that match and won 2&1 in the afternoon against a pair from Manchester. | ![]() |

| Day 2 pitted us against 2002 winners, amateurs Kemp & Wharton. The Surrey Winter League kicked off again on 31st January at Effingham Golf Club. Despite some poor putting on the winter greens, I shot 72 for a creditable 4th place. I am looking forward to the next tournament to be held at Royal Wimbledon on February 14th. I will be utilising all practice facilities at Lingfield Park in preparation for this next event. | ![]() |
